Knoxville, TN Expert Home Remodeling, Renovation, and Aging in Home

Home For A Lifetime is dedicated to solving the renovation needs of the "Aging in Place" population.

What is Aging in Place?
Aging in Place simply means remaining in your home safely, independently and comfortably, regardless of age or ability level. It means “staying where your roots are” throughout your maturing years and continuing to enjoy the neighborhood you’ve grown to love.

How should you modify your home to make it more comfortable?
To age in place, you will probably need to make some modifications to your home as you mature to increase accessability and maneuverability. These modifications range from the installation of grab bars in your bathroom or the installation of hand railing down hallways to the creation of first floor master suites.

When considering modifying your home, ask yourself:
  • How can I make my kitchen and laundry room more functional?
  • Do I want to add an accessible bathroom and possibly a master on the main level?
  • Am I worried about preventing falls?
  • Will other members of my family benefit from modifications?
  • Will remodeling increase the energy efficiency of my home?
  • How much can I budget for the project?
  • What resources are available to help cover the cost of improvements?
How Home For A Lifetime can help you "Stay Where Your Roots Are".
Bathroom remodels are our specialty as well as the most requested home modification from Seniors.  Removing tubs and installing tiled walk-in showers has become the trend.  There is even a solution for those in wheelchairs which allows them to roll directly into the shower.  From grab bars to roll up sinks, we can make your bathroom accessible, safe and beautiful.

We have worked with stroke patients who have stability limitations.  Installing hand railing and grab bars throughout their home to ensure a sturdy place to grasp has been a comfort for them.

Arthritis sufferers have benefited from our ramps and easy glide steps, built directly over existing exterior steps.  With an easy glide step, we reduce the tread rise from the average of 6" down to approximately 3" - 4", making the "glide" easier on the knees.

If you are a "Boomer" who is a care provider to a parent(s), consider the following:
  • Can I turn my basement or garage into an efficiency apartment for my parent, providing independent living?
  • Do I have an unused room on the main level that can be converted into a bedroom and private bath to provide additional privacy?
  • Is it time to consider a room addition to my home?
  • Do I have at least one no-step entrance into my home?

Home For A Lifetime offers FREE Home Assessments.

Together we will do a walk through of your home and identify areas of your home that can be improved upon for seniors.  You will be provided a list of suggested improvements at which time you can choose which project or projects you would like a price quote for.
